Short history and description
Lakefield College School is in the heart of a rural area and is surrounded by rivers and lakes, a few minutes from the Village of Lakefield, 20 minutes north of Peterborough and 2 hours driving from Toronto. Founded in 1879, Lakefield College School is a leader among independent schools in Canada and is proud of its reputation for innovation and academic excellence. Having a co-educational environment conducive to discovering and developing the potential of each student, the school offers a unique experience of boarding school life, designed to maximize students education in all aspects: academically, socially, emotionally and physically.

At the core philosophy of the school and teaching methodology sits the motto "Mens sana in corpora sano". LCS combines rigorous academic programme with sports programs, arts and education outside the classroom. The impressive campus allows students to enjoy a wide variety of sports, a rich curriculum program allows teachers to provide students important lessons in some subjects. Accommodation
Students are accommodated in 11 homes, each with a unique identity and becoming a home away from home for LCS students. Each house accommodates between 14 and 26 students, with individual or double rooms.

Extracurricular activities
Lakefield College School offers numerous opportunities for students to develop their artistic abilities through a cocurricular program. The students can take part in theater classes (on or off the stage) or in debating classes, being part of an instrumental group, choir or dance band. LCS is an active member of Round Square School Group. Each year, students attend the Round Square Conference.

LCS also offers students the chance to take part in international events projects in the field of social services in disadvantaged countries; exchanges of experience in countries around the world; expeditions for various purposes (such as climbing in Peru, rafting in Nepal, climbing on Mount Kilimanjaro etc.) Sport is an integral part of the students' life, with the campus providing: water opening, outdoor skating rink, three sports fields and a swimming pool, four tennis courts, a fitness and dance center, a yoga studio, a gym, an indoor climbing wall etc. In each quarter, students choose one of the following: football, volleyball, hockey, basketball, tennis, mountaineering, hockey, rugby, canoeing, athletics, kayaking, ultimate frisbee, riding, athletics, weightlifting, yoga, skiing.

Online summer courses
Lakefield College School Summer School offers local and international high school students the opportunity to enjoy summer vacation while earning credits from the Ontario Ministry of Education at one of the most prestigious schools in the world. Courses can be taken online.
