Institut Montana Zugerberg

About the school

Institut Montana Zugerberg opened its gates in 1926, in the late buildng of Grand Hotel Schonfels. Since its inauguration, its funder, Mr. Max Hussman, has been constantly trying to fulfill  his educational ideals - individual study, internationality and cultural integration. The school is accredited byt the International Schools Comitee and teaches students from more than 30 different nationalities and cultures. One of the main missions of the school staff is to prepare the students for being socially responsible. A great number of graduates follow careers in the fields of trade, science and arts.

Institut Montana is located in the beautiful Zugerbers, at an altitude of 950m, above the city of Zug in the canton with the same name, between Zurich and Lucerna. Many international companies have their headquarters in Zug due to the extremly favorable economic environment and the financial facilities provided by the authorities. Besides the fluorishing economic environment, Zug is also characterised by a diversified and rich cultural life.

Its excellent location at the foot of the Alps provides the perfect environment for study and sport activities. The school uses an individual approach that adapts according to each student's needs. The classes take place in small classrooms, which supports the development of each student's personal talent and skills. The general atmosphere is one of safety and mutual trust.

The focus is on cultivating a positive attitude towards the school and the development of students' personal skills, critical thinking, respect and mutual trust between the members of the school community. A great number of the graduates have been admitted to prestigious universities all over the world.

Accommodation

Students are accommodated in dorms according to their age and gender. Most rooms are double and the bathrooms are located at every floor. There are also schared livingrooms with TV that students can use for leisure and socializing. The school base aso has a nurse which is available at any time if medical care is needed.

Sport

Institut Montana owns a rich sports base: gym, two fitness rooms, basketball fields, beach voley fields, ice skating ring, football and tennis fields, ice hockey, horse stables etc. The school organizes football, basketball, voleyball and tennis tours constantly. Zugerberg is an alpine town, perfect for horse-riding, mountain biking, skiing. Close to the school there is an indoor swimming pool. Upon request, students can play golf on the golf field located nearby. The school organizes many trips to the best Swiss ski resorts

Activities

As a result of the excellent transportation, the students can take part in a variety of cultural events in Zug, Zurich or Lucerna. The school organizes visits to theaters, museums, expositions and concerts. The school's theater gained populaity outside the school and the school's orchestra takes part in concerts together with the music school in Zug. Young painters have the chance to prove their skills through the expositions organized by the school.
